As the style of clothes, cars, music and hairstyles have changed over the years, so too have the look of our homes.

From the Queenslander of the 1840’s, the Californian Bungalow of the 1920’s, the Art Deco of the 1950’s, and then, in the 1960’s we saw the establishment of the “brick veneer”.

The brick veneer home is relatively plain in style, however it was effective and built on a relatively small budget.  The 1960’s were a period of growth, and brick veneer homes allowed for standardised construction, and saw many of these homes sprawled across former farmlands, to create the suburbs we know today.

The “not so humble” brick – offering superior performance due to high fire resistance, low thermal transition rate, high resistance to water penetration, and are low maintenance, which all add up to good value.

Ultimately, you’re looking at a home that is strong, safe, and sturdy.

But what about the style?

What can be done to make the brick veneer just a little more fashionable and current?

Two very popular updates are rendering and cladding, and both of these will significantly change the street appeal of your brick beauty. If either of those options are not in your budget, painting the bricks can change the look dramatically as well.
